There are thousands of photographers out there that photograph children. Why pick me?
My philosophy when it comes to photographing kids is this:
Our kids are awesome. Let them be awesome.
It may sound overly simple, I know, but my #1 goal when I photograph a child (whether they’re 2 days old or 2 years old) is to create a safe space for their personality to bloom in front of my camera. I’ve been working with kids in some capacity since I was old enough to understand how… as an older sister to four younger siblings, a babysitter, a daycare worker (both infant and toddler rooms), a preschool teacher, a volleyball coach, and now as a mama to my own wonderful kids. It’s always been my experience that children are at their best when they can simply be themselves. It makes them happy and 9 times out of 10, it’s images that capture the authenticity of your kids that you’ll really love.
Not only has my life taught me how to create safe spaces in which kids can be themselves, but my own children have taught me what a gift it is to capture those authentic moments of childhood. Their uniqueness, wonder, and zest for life constantly amaze and inspire me. My goal as a photographer is to create beautiful, artistic images that capture your children just as they are, so that years from now, you’ll have a tangible reminder of their childhood.
